Squaw Bread
Here is a recipe that my family has used for years:

2 cups flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
dash of sugar
milk

Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Add enough milk to make a stiff dough. Place on a floured board then flour hands and pinch off dough, roll into sticks about twice as thick as a pencil. Drop into deep bacon fat and fry til brown. May also be rolled out flat and cut into strips or squares and fry in bacon fat............
