American Bean Bread


1 2/3 c (or 1 15 oz can) pinto beans cooked and sieved
1 1/2 c cornmeal
2 eggs beaten
3/4 c buttermilk
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda

Combine all the ingredients, beating just enough to make a smooth batter. Pour into a greased loaf pan and bake about 45 minutes in an 375 degree F oven . When top browns and sides pull away from the pan bread is done. Turn out and cool on a wire rack. Serve warm with butter.
