Apple Corn Bread
3/4 c of corn meal
3/4 c of all-purpose flour
3 tsp of baking powder
1/2 tsp of salt
2 tbs of melted butter
2 tbs of sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten
3/4 c of diced apples
3/4 c of milk
Sift together flour and corn meal. Add baking powder, salt, and sugar. Sift again. Add beaten egg and milk. Stir well to blend. Add apples and melted shortening. Mix thoroughly. Pour batter into a greased shallow 9 inch square pan. Bake at 400 degrees F for 25 minutes.
