Herb Sour Cream Bread
1/4 c water
1 (8-ounce) carton sour cream
1 egg
2 1/4 tsp vegetable oil
1 1/2 tsp honey
3/4 tsp salt
3 c bread flour
1/8 tsp baking soda
2 tbs minced onion
1/3 tsp dried thyme
2 tsp Bread Machine Yeast
Melted butter or margarine, for brushing on loaf (optional)
Add water, sour cream, egg, oil, honey, salt, bread flour, baking soda, onion, thyme and yeast to bread machine pan in the order suggested by manufacturer. Select dough/manual cycle. When cycle is complete, remove dough from machine. Cover and let rest 10 minutes. Divide dough into 3 equal pieces. Roll each piece into an 18-inch rope. Braid ropes to form a loaf; tuck ends underneath. Place loaf on greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise in warm, draft-free place about 45 minutes, or until doubled. Bake in preheated 350-degree oven 20 to 25 minutes, or until done. Remove from baking sheet and let cool on wire rack. Brush top with melted butter, if desired.
