Whole Wheat Bread 2
2 cups whole wheat flour
4 to 4-1/2 cups bread or all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons sugar
2 packages yeast
2 teaspoons salt
1-1/2 cups water
½ cup milk
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
In mixing bowl, combine 2 cups whole wheat flour, sugar, yeast and salt. Heat water, milk and butter until very warm. Add liquids and beat for two minutes, scraping bowl. Add remaining flour to mixture, beating until dough pulls away from sides of bowl. (I have a mixer with a dough hook but if you are mixing by hand, add enough flour to make a medium stiff dough, mixing well) Place in greased bowl, turning once to coat top. Let rise until doubled in size. Shape into loaves or rolls and place in greased loaf pan. Let rise until doubled. Bake at 400 F. 30 minutes or until done.
