White Bread
1 c milk
2 tbs sugar
1 tbs salt
3 tbs butter or margarine
1 1/2 c warm water
2 tbs sugar
2 tbs or pkgs dry yeast
1 1/2 c flour
5 1/2 c flour

Scald milk and stir in 2tbs sugar, salt, butter or margarine.  Let cool while you dissolve the yeast and 2 tbs sugar in the warm water in a large mixing bowl.  Add 1 1/2 c flour to yeast mixture.  Beat well.  Put in a warm place and let rise for 30 min.  Stir down yeast and add milk mixture.  Add 5 1/2 c flour.  Knead for 10 minutes.  Place in greased bowl and let rise for 30 minutes.  Punch down.  Divide and make 2 loaves, place loaves into pans.  Let rise 30 mintues.  Bake in 400 degree oven for 30 minutes.  This recipe may be doubled to make 4 loaves, however, only 3 pkgs of yeast will be necessary if doubled.
